About the Author
She writes romances with flawed characters, characters with artistic hearts: builders, poets, and writers of various makes and models. She loves to write book lovers; those who have found refuge, companionship, and escape in books, much as we do in real life. She likes realism, honesty, authenticity in storytelling. She loves to write about enduring love, soul-deep love, in as real a setting as she can make, but with big smooshy HEAs. I believe in diversity, open-mindedness, and inclusion. She likes sweetness mixed with steam, love conquering all, and above all, hope. Love always wins.
Darlene Montgomery has been to hell and back…more than once. After a stint in jail for drug possession, she is finally clean and ready to start over. Yet another failed relationship is just the motivation she needs to move from New York to San Francisco with the hopes of resurrecting her dance career and discovering that she is more than the sum of her rap sheet. As Darlene struggles in her new city, the last thing she wants is to become entangled with her handsome—but cranky—neighbor and his adorable little girl... Sawyer Haas is weeks away from finishing law school, but exhaustion, dwindling finances, and the pressure to provide for himself and his daughter, Olivia, are wearing him down. A federal clerkship--a job he desperately needs--awaits him after graduation, but only if he passes the Bar Exam. Sawyer doesn’t have the time or patience for the capricious—if beautiful—dancer who moves into the apartment above his. But Darlene’s easy laugh and cheerful spirit seep into the cracks of his hardened heart, and slowly break down the walls he’s resurrected to keep from being betrayed ever again. When the parents of Olivia’s absentee mother come to fight for custody, Sawyer could lose everything. To have any chance at happiness, he must trust Darlene, the woman who has somehow found her way past his brittle barbs, and Darlene must decide how much of her own bruised heart she is willing to give to Sawyer and Olivia, especially when the ghosts of her troubled past refuse to stay buried. First thing thats good about this Book is Emmas Style of writing. She made it that I totaly can understand both of her Charakters.
Also the way she discribed the way an addict acts when her or his prohibition is over in a really respect full way. She definitive found the right terms for me to discribe the thoughts and feelings of such a person unterstandably.
Also she showed really good how intensiv the Relationship between Dads and their children is if the dads are the only parents. it was so sweet to read about how Sawyer with his daughter.
It was so cute to read how a little was able to connect tow adluts even if they don't want that. I saw it that single moms and had problems with meeting new mates because of their children. It was was real refreshing to see that sometimes it goes in other way.
Also the kind of Humor that was shown dispite the serious themes Emma let Chrakters deal with, was really enjoyble. While reading i never felt like like i was disripektfull to the Charakters while laughing. Sometimes there were funny moments between them.
Also the Side characters had been really interesting. It was nice to that thy fit in the story and how they had good influence on the main characters.
Darleen had been a young women with whom i could identify myself really good. Her fears and sorrows had been discribed good and some of them i now for my own. Besides that she is a nice young Women. What makes her mire real were sometimes her disbelief in her self. Thats problem every one nows.
A thing that i love about Swayer ist that he tries his best to deal with his life and everything that life gives him. But it was hard to see that in some ways he forgot zo live his own life. The way he acted wiht his daughter was so sweet.
All in als that was an emotional story with intersting Cahrakters five of five stars
